Authentication

All API requests require an API key in the Authorization header:

Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY

Rate Limiting

100 requests per minute per API key (1,000 domains per minute)
Maximum 100 domains per request
Every response includes X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset headers
A 429 response includes Retry-After (seconds) and is never charged

Idempotency

To prevent duplicate charges, include an Idempotency-Key header:

Idempotency-Key: unique-request-id

Requests with the same idempotency key (within 24 hours) return the original result with an Idempotent-Replayed: true header, without charging again. Keys are private to your API key. Reusing a key for a different endpoint or domain list returns 422; retrying while the first request is still running returns 409. If a request fails, its key is released so you can safely retry.

Error Codes

400	invalid_request / invalid_json	Malformed JSON or invalid parameters
400	invalid_domains	One or more entries are not valid domains (listed in invalid_domains); nothing is charged
401	missing_auth / invalid_key	Missing, invalid or revoked API key
402	insufficient_credits	Balance is below the number of unique domains; checked before any lookup
409	request_in_progress	A request with this Idempotency-Key is still running
413	payload_too_large	Request body is too large
422	idempotency_key_reused	Idempotency-Key was used for a different request
429	rate_limited	Rate limit exceeded; see Retry-After
500	server_error	Internal server error; quote the request_id when contacting support
503	service_unavailable	Service temporarily unavailable
